With so many failed marriages we have to ask the question: “Do we expect too much from marriage?” Somehow when one becomes two, two becomes one and our self worth is measured through our partners words.

We mistakenly expect our partners to give us value when we lose our identity within marriage. Our partners experience this as neediness – which eventually leads to resentment. At the same intensity that women want to connect with their men, men want to be free. When our self worth depends on our partners approval this leads to power struggles because we feel unequal. Ultimately, this becomes a dependency within our relationships. The ideal situation is to find a way to value ourselves.
